About MDD

In view of Prime Minister's New 15 Point Programme for Minorities, the Minorities Development Department was formed as a separate Administrative Department by the Government of Maharashtra in February 2008 . The work entrusted to this department is as below:

  • Co-ordination and review of Hon'ble Prime Minister's New 15 Point Programme for the welfare of Minorities.
  • Monitoring and co-ordination of Maharashtra State Minorities Commission at Government level.
  • Monitoring and co-ordination of Maharashtra State Haj Committee at Government level.
  • Grant of No-Objection Certificates to the educational Institutions run by the Minorities in the State.
  • Implementation, monitoring and co-ordination of Waqfs (Including Waqfs Act) and related matters at Government level.
  • Monitoring and Co-ordination of Maulana Azad Alpasankhyank Arthik Vikas Mahamandal at Government level.
  • Monitoring and co-ordination of Maharashtra State Urdu Academy, Maharashtra State Sindhi Academy, Maharashtra State Hindi Academy and Maharashtra State Gujrathi Academy at Government level.
  • Implementation,monitoring and co-ordination of matters related to the accepted recommendations of Sachar Committee.
  • State level co-ordination of various schemes for minorities sponsored by the Central Government.
  • Co-ordination and review of various schemes announced by the State Government for the welfare of Minorities.
  • Submission of proposals for the approval of the Government to take policy decisions for the development of minorities by appointing experts / expert Organisations's study groups.
